Doctor, Is My End In Sight?" is a humorous look at the physicians' purview when plain folks participate in self-diagnosis.

1. Name three or more things, scenarios, or ideas that come to mind from Dr. Vance's comments in this book. Be specific on details or ideas.
Well he definitely is a different kind of doctor. One mini-story about a guy with pyorrhea really startled me. How would the guy know that his tongue tasted like the bottom of a birdcage unless he had at some point in time tasted the bottom of a birdcage? (pg6)
I also found Mrs. Notherbaby’s sister interesting because she described her sister as being confined. I guess it is true because a baby does take a lot of time but nowadays most women can multitask and think they can do everything just like before they had the baby. (pg 21)
It is pretty bad when your own gas bothers you. It is worse when you have to go to the doctor about it. I think I would alter my diet. (pg36-37)

2. Did Dr. Vance differ from other doctors, from doctor's you have worked with, in the way he listened to patients? Explain.
I think a lot of times in the present day hear what they want to hear. Dr. Vance listened to everyone and tried to understand what they were talking about. He did not talk over the patient’s head. He told them what was wrong in a way they would understand. I find doctors are sometimes trying to make you think they are smarter than they really are. They also act like the patient is stupid. To be clear, not all doctors just a few.

3.  Many folks, especially folks not from this area, think that Dr. Vance condescends or disrespects the folks he discusses in this book.  Tell, in detail, why you agree or disagree with this opinion.
I don’t think he is disrespecting the area. He is simply describing the people of this area. I think it is just like a history class. Also Dr. Vance said he was from this area so why would he want to offend himself. Dr. Vance just told stories about his hometown, just like someday we will tell our children about our hometown.

4.  If you had a chance to tell Dr. Vance's family ONE observation you gathered from the reading of this book, what would that observation be?

Dr. Vance was a brave man who helped many people that needed someone to listen to them about various situations they had, putting it nicely. I did like the book.
